guys i need to knw how advertising changes people's mind to buy stuff. how does it make them buy things, like wt attracts them.
What are the ways advertising help to change people's perception?
Here are four ways:
1) Bandwagon approach: make them feel like they are missing out on a product. Everyone is doing it, or that not owning a product will make your life not as good. (Try what everyone else is talking about!)
2) Sex Appeal: Use of celebrities/beautiful people. The idea is that you will become beautiful/a better person if you use a product. (tons of companies do this, you can probably think of your own example)
3) Emotional Appeal: Advertising which exhibits an emotional response which has nothing to do with a product (using a cute child or animal, or some touching story to sell a product - like the Onstar commercials)
4) Misinformation: Outrageous claims that are not necessarily true (like Diet adds)
That is a pretty good list. You could expand on these yourself probably.
Reply:tough question! i dont really think advertising changes my mind. sometimes, it just seems that the constant hype of a product might catch my attention.
Reply:The trick is to Show every one that this product / service is for HIM!
Reply:Knowledge is the key to change the individual behaviour. Change in individual behaviour is the key to change group behaviour. Advertising gives information to the people, which in turn forms the basis of knowledge people use, to make informed choice.
Reply:Through education (what the product is, what it's used for, who would benefit from the product, etc.).
Advertising tells a story about the product essentially. Emotion is used most often. Trying to build a connection between the product and consumer (you).
Marketing figures out who the product is for and how to reach them.
Every product is not meant for everyone. Good and ethical marketers and advertisers understand this and live by this principal. However, greed is a powerful enemy. It's quite prevalent in our society.
Reason and logic are your best weapons against unscrupulous marketers and advertisers.
