Do you think Newspaper advertising still worth the money now days?

I am starting up a small business and thinking about spending $170.00 for a 2 week ad just to see how it goes. If I dont get a single call I am only out $170.00 thats they way I see it.

Has anyone heard of newspaper advertising working?

Do you think Newspaper advertising still worth the money now days?
Ads only work if they are consistently placed for 6 months or more. I have tried and failed many times at the advertise a couple of times in one place or another and they never seem to work.

My PR and sales coach are really big on the networking. It takes some time as well, but the cost is fairly minimal.
Reply:It doesn't alway work.

You need to create a colorful catalog and find out how much it cost for Sunday newspaper to include your catalog inserted along with other.

Black and white is a boring ads, don't you think?
Reply:Newspaper will still work. With our modern times I believe that newspaper industry has been plummeting. With all the new technologies out there such as cell phones and computers, people rarely look at the newspaper. I only look through the papers for ads. Most of the news and ads I see are through the net.

I still say give it try because you never no. There are still people who enjoy grabbing a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper.

Reply:Newspaper adds don't reach as many people as they used to what with the Internet.

HOWEVER, you can place an add with a clip out coupon the customer can redeem. This will let you know how many readers there are in your area. If you only get a few responses, then the money could be spent on a better format.

Reply:Honestly, I rarly read the paper now and even then I never look at ads. The people you would be hiting at are probably only the elderly. So I would not count whole hardley on your ad. I would go for the local TV station and spend a little extra. Goodluck.
