Where should I start advertising my new free community-website?

I have already written three articles:

http://ezinearticles.com/?How-You-Can-Ma...

http://ezinearticles.com/?We-Do-Not-Nece...

http://ezinearticles.com/?How-Gay-Landlo...

My site is also already listed in the directories of Google since two weeks so far.

However, I would like to know what i am missing. I am a little skeptic about link exchanges because I wonder why should a low-rank website want to share a link with a high-rank website.

I would like to know how much I should spend in total budget at the beginning for:

Google Adwords,

Local magazine advertising

Or any other ways

and if I would also need to better optimize the website in order to be found faster in search engines.

As you can see, there are already some users who posted their profiles, but I wish to have HUNDREDS more.

This website is great for web advertising. It's a free targeted advertising (based on you selecting various categories you would like to be included in) and link exchange network. You put other websites text ads on your page and yours appears on others. And it really is 100% free, forever. While it's not something that guarantees traffic it also doesn't cost anything, so why not try it?

Good luck!
Reply:First of all - I want to say I like your website design. It's perky and clean, easy to navigate, clear to read and loads nicely. Kudos.

As far as getting more traffic - welcome to the web. I don't know about giving advice for a marketing budget, that's really up to you and you financial people. Advertising in a local magazine is a great idea; cross media marketing holds high returns. You could even explore producing a quick and easy commercial to run on your local public access site. If you live in the US, public access television is free! And very under utilized.

As for print, think about targeting some travel magazines or travel agency websites. Also, consider putting a link up in your state our county government run travel website. When people come to the travel site, looking for information on a vacation or a long term holiday, they'll find your link to explore a housing option. I wonder if realtors would be interested in the service you offer?

Another way to look at it is to consider your clients - the people who are already using your site. Look for common denominators amongst them - are they all in a particular income bracket? Do they all have a certain lifestyle quality? Figure out the consumer aspect of those lifestyles - would someone like that go to Starbucks or other local coffee shop? Maybe you could offer a coupon or discount to current clients for referrals? Figure out what your current clients do, or buy, and try to strategically get the url in front of people like them, or offer some type of service exchange or discount.

Just some ideas. Good luck!
Reply:Myspace and Facebook. Social Networking sites are taking over. Its proven they are out performing all of the marketing top gurus "paid" systems, which are all scams if you ask me.
