What personalities are best suited for careers in advertising?

I love working with lots of different people, problem solving and variety of task. Would advertising (art direction or creative director, even advertising coordinator) be a good fit for me? Anyone in this field with some advice? And does a great portfolio beat someone who looks good on paper?

What personalities are best suited for careers in advertising?
You just need to be super creative , think the way normal people dont ! :D (read wierdo lol) Most ad ppl are wierdos in real life ! lol lol

Advertising is the fine line between sanity and insanity lol :)

Its all about thinking out of the box :)

And you need to absolutely passionate about what you are doing :) Passion is the watch word :)

If you have the passion to get there with the right amount of creativity , theres no stopping you :) You dont need degrees to be an ad professional... you just need to unleash and bask in the splendour :)

A good way to start is to intern with an ad agency for a couple of months and see how it goes... it jus doesnt work out for some people... if you are good there is a good possibility that the agency will hire you... everyone in the media start their career without getting paid even a penny... thats the way it is... you might not see big money first... but...once you carve a space for yourself... there is no looking back..

Good luck:)

Reply:To answer your question: the worst kind.
Reply:creativity is crucial
Reply:I think you pretty much list most of it. Besides being creative, good with people, you have to understand who you're interested in targeting. For the most part, you have to be an extrovert type of a person that's quick in thinking and responding, dealing with all different types of people on a daily basis...
Reply:Extremely creative, tenacious, take no prisoners, self-starters, who can tell others what to do and are great artists, writers, very eclectic, outgoing. Ability to think outside the box, new radical ideas, youth oriented, detailed, analytical, curious. High stress, egomaniac tolerance, job insecurity, vanity and paranoia just about complete my personal definition of my last 25 years of employment. It's a very subjective industry, people will believe what you can convince them of, not what you have done. A great portfolio gets all the work, a resume means nothing
Reply:a personality who is hardworking , ready to learn fast learner, concentrating and has inter perosnal skills as well as intra personal skills will be successful in every field
