My current employer, an advertising agency in London...?
I am going to be moving back to the States soon (I'm a Yank living and working in London).I have run into a bit of a snag, however, regarding a reference from my current employer here in the UK. Due to the office always being hectic and chaotic, I have been asked not to provide them as a reference contact. My direct supervisor, however, told me that he would be more than willing to write a reference letter and get those I have worked with to do the same for me. How do I explain this situation to a future employer back in the States? Thanks for the help and Merry Christmas.

Ask your supervisor to state the business reason for not being contacted in the reference letter and explain it to your potential employer as: my former workplace is short of staff and often requests for references get lost in the shuffle. They have provided these reference letters so that you can get the information you need quickly and avoid any delays or lost requests.
