Do you think internet advertising is getting out of hand?

I know most sites use this to make money to keep their sites up and running, and to also allow free content. However I can't help but notice an increase in the number of ads you see on a site, and how they are in unnecessary spots. For example, when you goto to some sites to watch videos, a 15-30 second ad plays before. Now I'm not saying I'm impatient or anything but when you want to watch a video, you want to see the video and only the video. Plus when you watch numerous ones, do you really want to see the same four ads over and over? It may not be a big deal now, but in the future this may get out of hand. Do you think these types of ads even work? I'd like to hear from both sides of the agruement as to good reasons or bad reasons to internet advertising. Thanks in advance!

I would attempt to answer this question, but I am busy battling pop-ups and side ads!

Why limit the question to internet, advertising is just getting out of hand in general. You can't even take a piss without seeing ads plastering the walls of the public bathrooms. Ads on cars, benches, billboards, walls, stuck under your windshield wiper (that really erks me). You can't even open the front door of your house without having to pickup junk ads on the front step.

WHEN IS ENOUGH, ENOUGH!
Reply:Well here's the rub - consumers demand too much for free.

Get your credit card out and you can find premium rate services.

My blog on live.com has no adverts - but only because I paid to get rid of them. i gave live a different way make money out of the system.

Get a pop-up blocker to stop lots of ads (but ask yourself - why did someone build it and give it to you fpr free?

go for premium content and premium sites.

Can't afford that? That's OK too, but just so you know, there are a million people making their living out of making all this fun and free for you, me and society in general. how many adverts do you think it takes to pay the wage bill?

I would much rather less adverts - but at the end of the day I'm in the minority of people who would be willing to pay for the premium that would involve.
Reply:I agree with you.

Too much ads, too little content
