generally how advertising firms operate and how they aquire business
What to know about advertising operations?
Ad firms operate from small one or two person shops, where the few people do everything, to large agencies that have specialized people for each task. A large agency will have business development people (salespeople) project managers, marketing researchers, creative directors, graphic designers, media planners %26amp; buyers, copy writers, photographers, video editors, production assistants, IT staff, programmers, and accounting people. A medium sized agency will usually have less people who perform a variety of the roles listed for the large agency.
They get business from responding to requests for proposals, getting on vendor lists, cold call selling, referrals, networking and their own advertising and marketing.
The business development (sales) team usually is skilled in all facets of the company.
Reply:Generally an advertising consists of at least this two departments, Creative Team and the Account Servicing Team. The account servicing team's role is to gain accounts through contacts and sometimes pitch for accounts. A Creative Team supports the Accounts Servicing Team in the aspects of creative needs, eg. designing, printing and any other creative solutions under the advertising umbrella! The operations vary from agency to agency depending on the size of the company.
