Abercrombie, Hollister, Aeropostale Advertising?

I would like to know how they get everyone and their grandma to buy their clothes. Is their advertising brain washing in some way? I for one have never seen a TV ad for any of those stores. So how did they get everyone started on them? I mean I understand people see and copy, but the clothing isn't really all that different than a lot of other stores. Its just kind of mind boggling.... does anyone know what it is?

Abercrombie, Hollister, Aeropostale Advertising?
I remember when Abercrombie first started becoming popular. I think they were offering something different to young shoppers. When it first started there wasn't anything like that, and I think it changed the prices other teen stores can get away with charging. It's relatively expensive for what you're getting (basics) so people think that it must be better. The owner of the company is totally creepy but he is a smart in that he understands the appeal of people wanting to belong. He's old but he himself tries to conform himself to the abercrombie ideal(check him out he looks freaky).

He openly admits that they do exclude people and that abercrombie is NOT for everyone and quite frankly if you're not cool, popular and well adjusted then he doesn't want you to buy the clothes. Hollister is owned by the same company that owns Abercrombie so I think the popularity of one led to the popularity of the other.

Even though they don't advertise, they've had some pretty high profile controversies covered by the news. Just the other day I walked by an Abercrombie and there was shirtless guy with crazy six pack standing at the entrance. Just standing there! For what?! It's all about what a brand associated themselves with. Like Ralph Lauren purports to be a luxury brand. It's "expensive" and what rich people should wear. So if you want to associate yourself with that lifestyle then you buy it. I guess on the east coast, abercrombie is still pretty big but in california I think it's time has passed. No self respecting person would wear a polo with a popped collar and abercrombie logos all over.

Have you seen the madtv skits on abercrombie? they're hilarious
Reply:It all started with people who bought all the huntingy things they sold there. Then people started buying more of there normal clothing so they moved on to ther clothes they have nowadays. Some people see clothes and think oh that looks cute, others see their friends wearing it so they join in.
Reply:i was wondering the same thing every time i turn around somebody is wearing those brands. i think since the casual style is being used right now and those brands are very casual expensive clothing and after you see everybody wearing this brands you want to wear them i guess it's the circle of life....
Reply:ok well ill tell u how i found out about it...well when i was in the 7th grade everyone but mostly popular kids wearing these type of clothes and i decided to go check it out,...when i went i love their clothes..the clothes were sooooo cute and had a cute style..so i decided to shop there.....and once when i was driving i saw a poster for abercrombie....so and also my friend so what i was wearing and she liked the clothes too so she strted to shop there too!
Reply:%26gt;.%26lt; i really don't know but i think once they see people they get hooked it x] or maybe the BAGS! im not a fan of the storess so i really don't know
Reply:Well for me I'm very tiny (00 in jeans) and the clothes at those stores fit me really well. Also there kinda my style!! I love the whole prep school chic look , but i dont JUST shop at those stores!!!!! I still get stuff from Target when i think its cute (there international stuff ROX). SOme people where it because its considered 'cool'.
Reply:good question, i was thinking about this too. Maybe celebrities starting wearing their clothes
Reply:i think if mainly just has to do , with everyone in school wearing them . Like the 'popular' kids , and everyone wants to be like them so they want to dress like them too so that they can be considered cool too! and they also fit different people the way they like their clothes to fit them .
