GUMTREE website....free advertising..is it really as good as it looks or is there a catch?

it all seems too good to be true!!! free advertising? has anyone tried it and if so, what did you think?

Yes, theres no catch! I`ve placed ad's on there and got a fair amount of traffic from them.





Its also great for getting a new website spidered quickly by google!





Haven't had any problems from it, you're email address is kept private so you don't get spam etc.
Reply:Gumtree is a great free classified posting site there is no catch they make their money from advertising. There are other classified boards too if you want to achieve maximum exposure

Reply:Ive used it a few times without problems. Its free due to all the advertising on their and yes, it works a treat
Reply:I've used it to advertise for jobs. It cost £20 and was good. Got hundreds of applicants and had to lots of filtering, but good ones in there.

Reply:I'd agree with everyone so far, the other advantage of Gumtree is it's indexed very regularly by Google so your ads could well be picked up in natural searches.





Another good site to use is Craigslist.com which operates on the same basis as Gumtree but is even bigger in the US.
